PiratProxies

Proxy basics

Proxy Formats Explained: host:port:user:pass

A proxy is four values: host, port, username, password. Tools disagree on how to write them on one line, and a line in the wrong order looks like a broken proxy.

The four values

ValueExample
Hostresi.piratproxies.com
Port8080 for HTTP, 1080 for SOCKS5
UsernameUSERNAME
Passwordfrom your plan page

The common ways to write them

host:port:user:pass

resi.piratproxies.com:8080:USERNAME:PASSWORD

user:pass@host:port

USERNAME:PASSWORD@resi.piratproxies.com:8080

Full address

http://USERNAME:PASSWORD@resi.piratproxies.com:8080

Full address, SOCKS5

socks5://USERNAME:PASSWORD@resi.piratproxies.com:1080

Who wants which

  • Antidetect browsers and bulk tools mostly take host:port:user:pass, one proxy per line.
  • Programming libraries and command-line tools take the full address.
  • Forms with separate boxes want each value on its own. Paste nothing with a colon into the host box unless the tool says it will split it for you.

Where the country goes

On PiratProxies, the country, city and session are not separate values. They are written into the username. That is why the username can look long, and why it must be copied whole: USERNAME-country-us-time-600-session-a1b2c3d4.

The generator on your plan page builds the username and prints the finished line in any of the formats above, so you rarely need to write one by hand.

Mistakes that look like a dead proxy

  • A space at the end of a pasted line.
  • The username cut off at the first hyphen by a tool that expects a short name.
  • The HTTP port with the type set to SOCKS5, or the other way round.
  • http:// typed into a box that wants only the host.

Questions

My tool only has IP and port fields. What now?

Then it cannot send a login by itself. Run a small local forwarder that adds it: see proxies with a login in tools that only take IP and port.
