What Is an Antidetect Browser, and Do You Need One

An antidetect browser lets one computer look like many separate ones. Each profile has its own cookies, its own browser details and, with a proxy, its own IP address.

The problem it solves

A website recognises a returning browser by more than cookies. Screen size, fonts, graphics hardware, time zone and dozens of other details add up to a fingerprint that stays the same when cookies are cleared. Two accounts opened from one browser share that fingerprint, and the site knows it.

What the browser does

An antidetect browser keeps a set of profiles. Each has a fingerprint of its own and its own storage, so nothing leaks from one to the next. Teams can share a profile, which means a colleague in another city opens the account looking like the same device.

Where the proxy fits

The fingerprint is half of what a site sees. The other half is the IP address, and a browser cannot change that by itself. Every profile takes a proxy for this reason. A profile with a new fingerprint and your own home address is still, plainly, you.

Who uses one

  • Agencies that run advertising or social accounts for many clients.
  • Sellers with several stores on one marketplace, where the marketplace allows it.
  • Teams who need to see a site, an advert or a price as visitors in other countries do.
  • Testers who check how a site behaves for different devices and regions.

What it does not do

It does not make an account trustworthy, and it does not lift a platform's rules about how many accounts you may have. Use it within those rules.

Questions

Is an antidetect browser legal?

The software is. What matters is what you do with it and whether the platforms you use allow it.

Can I use a VPN instead of proxies?

A VPN gives the whole computer one address. Profiles need one each, which is what proxies are for.
